The fantastic winery tour will be last on the day's event schedule, so ya'll will be quite 'happy' when you roll off the bus into the (OH) Canada Tent for the pig roast! 6) Keep your eyes on TS.com anytime now for exciting news about to be revealed by Kenny Ray Estes! June 2, 2008 ----------------------- We are pleased to announce, and due to many requests, we have secured the services of Birdie Golf Cart (thanks Dave Storring!) and will have 24 golf carts available to rent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Birdie's is offering The 2008 Canadian special, reduced rates! A five day package is $200, four days is $160., three days is $135., two days is $100., and one day is $55.00. I urge you to guarantee your reservation - that way when you arrive at the tournament, your cart will be waiting, your keys will be handed to you just as soon as you show your driver's license and sign the contract. No hassle, no delay! Trust me, parking will be at a premium - grab your spot in the morning, leave your vehicle there - and get around the grounds on a golf cart, it will be much easier for you and everyone else! For those of you who don't know The Hamilton Gun Club: the tournament is held on the west grounds - the clubhouse, vendors row, dinner tent, practice traps, classifying, squadding and cashiering are all on the east grounds. It's walkable - but you might not want to with your gun, gear and ammo - especially if you are shooting on bank 6! And while there is parking behind each bank - it is limited. Call Birdie Golf Carts: 1-866-320-2090 and tell them you are attending The 2008 Canadian at The Hamilton Gun Club to get our special, reduced rates! May 28, 2008 ----------------------- Listen up everyone! We are pleased to announce that "Sound Barrier" will be setting up shop on Vendors Row. We are thrilled that Rita Edmondson will be offering our competitors her stellar service and superior custom ear plugs on site. May 22, 2008 ----------------------- Eat your way to AAA! Most of you know the very talented Canadian trapshooter, Drew Shaw. But did you know he is also a professional griller? Drew will be manning the outdoor bbq every day starting at 11 am. behind Bank 3, providing you with the best, lick-smackin' hot dogs and sausages - and grilled to perfection! May 15, 2008 ----------------------- This is an important message to all Canadian trapshooters who wish to assist Kenny Ray Estes, Museum Director of the ATA Trapshooting Hall of Fame, in his quest and committment to raise the profile of Canada's rich history in our sport. As you know, he will be attending The 2008 Canadian and will be setting up an exhibit of Canadian memorabilia in The Hamilton Gun Club clubhouse. When he is not shooting, he would very much like to chat with anyone who would like to learn more about Canada's contributions and legends in trapshooting, as well as with those who can personally share with him information or show him items that will help him document Canada's illustrious trapshooting past! Please bring with you to the tournament any historical documents, photographs, memorablia, etc. that you believe will be of interest to the ATA Trapshooting Hall of Fame in this regard. Time to go thru your attics, gun rooms, family scrapbooks, and old tournament files! Or, if you personally are related to or know of a Canadian trapshooter who has left their mark (and I don't mean on the traphouse!) as part of Canada's legacy in trapshooting, be sure to let him know! For your future reference, Kenny Ray can be reached by calling The Trapshooting Hall of Fame in Ohio at (937) 898-4638, extension 528 or by emailing him at hof@shootata.com. Your contributions and knowledge for preserving and perpetuating Canadian Trapshooting history will be greatly appreciated! May 12, 2008 ----------------------- We are pleased to announce that we have hired the very valuable Vince Valois, the Florida State Champion, as our authorized Pat-trap mechanic and target setter! We are thrilled that Vince and his beautiful sidekick Lady will be gracing the grounds during the tournament. In addition to providing us with his expert services, we anticipate Vince to be making frequent trips to our trophy room to collect hardware for his known shooting ability! April 8, 2008 ----------------------- Jim Wood, Ontario Delegate for the Canadian Trapshooting Association, announced to us at the OPTA meeting tonight that the CTA will pay the target fees for ALL Canadian and American Junior & Sub-Junior shooters for the 2008 Canadian Singles (200) Championship event on Saturday June 28th, provided that the shooter does not play any options. This is a great show of support & encouragement for the future of our sport – thank you CTA! April 1, 2008: ----------------------- Received word today from Terry Heeg, Editor and Publisher of Trap & Field Magazine, that she is rearranging her schedule because she now wants to personally cover The 2008 Canadian – thank you Terry!!! With any luck, we will get her shooting too… and yes, Keith will be accompanying her and plans to shoot the entire tournament! Terry, we are so excited that you both will be attending and when I told Paul Shaw, Ontario ATA Delegate, this fantastic news he was just as thrilled as me… well, maybe me more so than Paul, for Keith will be a serious contender along with Paul for that $10,000.00! March 24, 2008 ----------------------- We are pleased to announce that Mr. Barry Springle, president and principal photographer of Digital Sports Photography, will be the official photographer of The 2008 Canadian! He will be offering his remarkable photographic expertise and products on the grounds throughout the tournament to all shooters wishing to purchase action shots of themselves competing, as well as portraits. The photographs will be developed and available on-site. You may book his services at his location on Vendors’ Row or, to avoid disappointment due to popular demand and to guarantee his availability to you for your specific event(s) and shots of choice, you may wish to book him in advance at: 905-685-3234 or imagemaster@dsphotography.ca March 20, 2008 ----------------------- We received word this morning that Edie Fleeman, ATA Youth Director, will be appearing at the tournament, both on the trap field as well as Vendors’ Row. Mrs. Fleeman is the recent recipient of the NRA’s Sybil Ludington Women’s Freedom Award, which recognizes amongst many things, exceptional contributions to the shooting sports. She is also a five-time Women's National Champion in Smallbore Prone and has numerous other shooting titles to her credit. Mrs. Fleeman is relatively new to clay target shooting and we are very excited that she will be honing her trapshooting prowess on our watch! In addition, she will be representing the ATA Coach School programme on Vendor’s Row and will be booking dates for schools across Canada and the United States. Be sure to spend some time with her to learn more about this fantastic and valuable programme and get the date(s) of your choice for your school while you can. The remainders of 2008 and dates in 2009 are booking up fast! March 11, 2008 ----------------------- Today we received an exciting personal note from Kenny Ray Estes, Museum Director of the ATA Trapshooting Hall of Fame. Apparently, since assuming the role of Museum Director, he has wanted to see the famed, historical Hamilton Gun Club, so he plans on attending! Along with his shotgun and competitive edge, Mr. Estes will be bringing an exhibit of Canadian Trapshooting History that we will be setting up on the main floor of the Clubhouse for all to view. According to Mr. Estes, “Canadian Trapshooting surely must date back in close proximity to that of the USA and they have enjoyed a wonderful and rich history that should be documented and preserved. I plan on helping with the task whenever I can.”
